Salsa On 2 (also known as Mambo) is a style of Salsa that has maintained a dedicated following since its heyday back in the 50’s & 60's. Despite
the strength of Los Angeles (On 1) and Cumbia styles that dominate most international Salsa outposts, most Salsa communities that cultivate
some budding love for Salsa On 2, like yin into yang.
The Salsa On 2 style emphasizes harmony with the percussive instruments in salsa music, such as the congas, timbales, and cowbell, since
many or all of those instruments often mark the second beat in the music.
Actually, LA Salsa On 1 and New York On 2 styles have no big difference in counting where in facts, both counting 123... 567 are totally adoptable
to one another. It just that On 1 style strongly emphasizes the steps on the 1 & 5 counts where on the On 2 style emphasizes the steps on the 2 & 6.
